Statement of Intent
Music video
The summarised idea for my music video will be for the audience to engage in a close friendship between 2 friends that have a passion for skateboarding but encounter some everyday problems.
My audience is aimed at Generation Z and I think they would be attracted and invested in my music video as they have something to relate too with the lyrics and the acting.
Our Genre chosen for this years NEA is Anthemic, The song i have chosen is definitely an anthem. Anthems are songs that inspire people and bring them together.
I believe the idea for this video is both powerful and daring, in line with Sony Music’s stated goal of “Lifting talent by being a powerful, bold, and creative partner.” The label is associated with some of the most enduring music videos in recent memory thanks to bands like ABBA, Depeche Mode, Fatboy Slim, and Labyrinth who are signed to the company. The musicians who are signed to Sony Music did this by trying something new and taking chances, and I think my more surprising plot will follow the example of their memorable videos.
I’m going to be using two teen boys which will seem to be aged 16-25.
I want to express feelings of the characters by using different camera angles, such as birds eye view. When the 2 characters come back to being friends, this will show the audience that the world is so big and when zoomed out and “taking a step back from reality” you’ll realise that holding grudges and and arguing/fighting over small problems isnt worth it.
The French phrase “Mise en scène” translates to “Setting up the stage.” It incorporates things like texture, lighting, art direction, composition, and cosmetics. In my video I will be dressing the actors up as typical skaters, with baggy jeans and clothes, I will also be using a girl to Narrate the chorus as she is watching the friendship from another perspective. This can represent different view points.

4. ANTHEMS
What makes an Anthem an Anthem?
-gives people without a voice a chance to speak
-creates a group’s unity
-Crowds may sing or shout this.
-appeals to many people at once, making it suitable for playing or singing. A group that feels disenfranchised, a generational theme, a significant movement, a sports team, youth itself, or some mix of these may all be reflected in a community event. Most significantly, though, it speaks for someone.
-stirring or inspiring, connected to a particular group, and frequently forceful, especially in the chorusExamples :
- RegulateWarren G, Nate Dogg.
- Party UpDMX.
- Fight For Your RightBeastie Boys.
- Big Pimpin’JAY-Z, UGK.
- This Is How We Do ItMontell Jordan.
- Mama Said Knock You OutLL COOL J.
- Tonight’s Da NightRedman.

2. Star Image : Kanye West
Kanye West may be the most mockable celebrity. Most of the time, he invites controversy by making divisively daring musical and creative choices and outlandish statements. But such decisions have also given him opportunities to work with the biggest names in music, fashion, and film, as well as 21 Grammy Awards, three albums that made Rolling Stone’s list of the “500 Greatest Albums of All Time,” and more. Kanye may have an inflated ago and a sense of self, but it doesn’t mean he is always right.
Kanye had to struggle to reach these amazing heights. He has earned each opportunity that has come his way. And he has repeatedly shown that he deserves to be in the spotlight and that he is an artist as well as a star. The tale of how he rose to fame serves as further evidence.
Kanye also now known as “Ye” received his first significant break when he paid $8,000 for a beat to Chicago rapper Gravity. His second came after he relocated to New Jersey to peddle his demos around New York and after he sold a beat to Jermaine Dupri for the track “Life in 1462.” Later, Kanye produced for Jay Z, for whom he contributed to several iconic songs on his masterpiece The Blueprint, including the album’s opening track, as well as for Mase, Foxy Brown, Dead Prez, Goodie Mob, Lil’ Kim, and finally Lil’ Kim.
Kanye west is now in the top 5 most well known rappers in the world, Up there with drake, Tu Pac and the notorious big. Ye is a marketing genius and he carries on being so with his controversial ways of approaching social media and his music. He owns a Designer brand with Adidas known as YEEZY where he sells products such as Shoes, Hoodies, sweaters… you get the Jist, and then sells them in a limited amount so the price of the clothing goes up from resale. This has also had a massive impact on himself by going extremely international and well known by Parents for their kids wanting these shoes for birthdays and Christmas, I may be one of them…
